Astral Zone Review
Some reviews are lively, some give the expression of the excitement that has been in place while playing. But then, in this Astral Zone review we only have disappointement to give you.

The game is easy to understand, you are in navigating towards the horizon in a landscape scenery on a planet in a distant galaxy. The graphics are poor and really boring – the ships that come towards you are moving in a to predictable way and the shots are easy to avoid. When moving sidewize the enemies start up their position from the horizon again.
The controls are irregular and the movement is hard to get exact to have the enemies in your aim. And this even when running with the keyboard.

So as a conclusion, a 3D? shooting game – with poor graphics, poor scrolling, poor enemies and poor control. And about mentioning 3D, I’m just sarcastic. And to finalize my verdict, who chooses a red sprite on a brown mountainside?
So, do not waste your time on this game, if you want to see System 8 for real you should try some of their Adventure games like The Golden Baton, Arrow of Death or Circus. Let this one be a dust keeper if it is in your collection.
From the Magazines
Not too much fun here: Astral Zone is another spaceship zapping game described as ‘arcade’ and ‘3D’, but the graphics are really plain (despite use of sprees) and pretty boring. It is difficult to play but not by degrees. So you’ll need a great deal of patience if you’ve not hit anything by the time Coronation Street comes on. You’re equipped with two neutrortium cannons with which to destroy funny shapes that are supposed to look like fighters and cruisers. The usual alien photons appear occasionally to do you some damage.
Using the joystick, you can scroll in any direction But you can’t go very far up or down, and the terrain looks the same wherever you are – so what’s the point? Another gripe is that the blurb doesn’t explain the game too well – or perhaps there isn’t really much there. At least the sound effects are reasonable enough.
From the Covers
A wonderul cover – the art of fantasy. Being able to give both a perception of depth and movement is really good. But I dare to say that the cover becomes fraudulent as the game would as the closest reach a coffee stain on the cove. In my opinion way below the standards you can expect from Channel 8.
The Vengorian Empire has attacked earth. All the armed forces of the world have been crushed by the Vengorian fighters and cruisers. You are the last hope for the survival of mankind.
Your only weapons are two neutronium cannons mounted on the latest Terramobile, plus a magnetic phase shift shield. Good luck Commander, the survival of man is in your hands. This game features 3-D graphics, superb sound effects, sprites and scrolling in all directions. One joystick is required in Port 2.
