Buriabeast (1984)

Buriabeast Review

Once again a new classic game and type of personality – the digging hero in this Buriabeast review. For you who have played panic, this is the game for you – even though it doesn’t come near the experience of Playing Panic.

As you are digging the holes to trap the little monsters in your pre-defined ladder system – you climb up and down to lure them into the recently digged holes.

You can choose between 1-3 in difficulty level when starting the game – and really the only differcnce is the speed – try level 3 it is so much fun.

Needless to say, but you don’t have to be an engineer to build several deep holes for the different monsters, it is from one, two to three holes to get them into the dust and splashed.

This is a game worth a while, it is fun to compare with if you have played Panic but if you have not, try Panic first.

Panic 64 (on the C64) is the first commercial game I played and we had so much fun in the neighbourhood.

So Enjoy.

In the Magazines

Buriabeast is described as introducing a new plateau in graphics and sound. What the insert doesn’t tell you is that this is a straightforward ‘Panic’ type game, and with the amount of versions available already, you could say the game type plateaued out a long while ago.

You are the sole surviving member of the human race and it has fallen to you to defend the world from hordes of marauding mutant KENS (as in ‘Dye Ken John Peel) and your only tool is a shovel.

Quite honestly, if I was the sole surviving member of the human race, I think I would leave the world to the marauding Kens. Thus described, the game is almost always oblige by falling into your holes. The tunes are quite good. Graphics move by the block and are quite small except for the man and the beast, both of which move well. Overall a fairly neat ‘Panic’ type game, but still not the best on the market.’

From the Covers

You must love this front cover – who wants to kill such a pretty and soft monster? Not me, they are so cute they could be the actual heros in the game. Art in 8-bit form at its best.

BURIABEAST

An exciting game for the 48K Spectrum, Buriabeast introduces a new plateau in graphics and sound. You are the sole surviving member of the human race and it has fallen to you to defend the world from hordes of marauding mutant KENS. The only tool you have with which to accomplish this task is…a shovel! To complete all thirteen levels you will need to be incredibly lucky!

Our Buriabeast Review rating

So don’t Panic – this is for sure a good clone. It really deserves the time you put into it and you get back a joyfull moment of play. We can’t give this pretty game less than three umbrella pairs out of five. Enjoy.
