We will highlight one example where you see the company forced to change the Star Trek title. This due to copyright infringement.
This is a phenomena that appears in the 80’s even though the actions against them doing the infringement are very different.
You all have heard about titles refering to Pac Man, Frogger and Donkey Kong are well known examples. How many close variations of the names do exist? We will write a post about each of the above mentioned games in later posts.
But now it is time to talk about the popular series Star Trek, launched in the 1960’s.
Star Trek for Dragon 32
And of course everyone watching a sensational serie or seeing a splendid movie would like to extend experience to the gaming arena.
The game was released by Salamander Software – it is clear with Spook on the back piece of the cover. We are ready to enter the world of Enterprise starship – the five year expedition lays infront of us.

The years went quickly
It it became very clear that the title had to be changed – Salamander Software went fast into it and changed the name to Dragon Trek – close to Star Trek.
But amazingly they kept details like the Entreprise Emblem – And with no reflection Spook is still on the cover – so a lot of details still in the illustration reminding us about the original series.

But not good enough
The changes did not satisfy. So we got a third version, now with new characters on the front page – a new emblem, this formed by the Salamander logotype.
The text and the drawing of the captain has improved. A nice detail are the stars that are much nicer in this final version of Dragon Trek.
