Traxx Review

One addiction to game again, why is it so that all these simple games from the 80s eat you up totally? Let’s talk about it in this Traxx Review.

The gameplan is easy, you start with a partially filled grid and your task is to fill it up to move on to the next level. But beware those little pursuers are trying to take you and prevent you from it.

Traxx Title

The game idea is so simple but created by a genious – I know that there are a lot of similar games under different titles and with slight modifications to the gameplay. Should we call these games fill’em up games? My favourite in this genre is Stix or also known as Qix that are a flexible variant with no internal grid.

But back to Traxx – a masterpiece from Llamasoft – that gives you hours of pleasure – the game develops with more pursuers in the grid to eat you up and the pace increases per level. Trying the fastest level is hilarious and I must confess that I had no chance whatsoever.

Passing levels

So if you like simple games with low grade of understanding before starting, this is a game for you.

I love it, and I must be honest that I played the game for approximately 10 hours before writting this review – I must admit that my fingers are stiff after this challenge.

From the Magazines

Traxx is a painting game similar in concept to Gndder. But Llamasoft has used the expanded memory capability to introduce arcade-quality graphics, sound effects and colour You are presented with a uniforrn grid and steer your spaceship to paint around the grid squares: if you backtrack, or fail to meet another painted line within three line segments, painted segments are erased.

While you are doing this an alien wanders through the grid and you must avoid crashing into it. After clearing one frame the next one has an extra alien. The speed of the game and also the number of aliens can be preselected; but even at the bottom level. precision joystick control is required. A catchy little tune plays continuously while you paint, but be warned – you’ll grow tired of it

From the Covers

The Object of Traxx is to capture boxes on the grid until the whole grid is red. You will be pursued by 1 to 9 Evil Bugs. Capturing 4 corner squares allows you to eat Bugs for bonus points.

Capture squares by leading red trace around square using your space ship. Trace disappears if you backtrack or fail to connect with more red within 3 track lengths. 81 skill levels and 1/2 player options selectable by F-keys.

Our Traxx Review Rating

For the playability and for the low time to get started I must give this game a generous three out of five. This is 8bit gaming at its best.

Three Lllamas out Five – That is good
